Edward Fong, MD, Passes Away
Edward Fong, MD, is a pediatric pulmonologist in Hawaii. He is currently a faculty member of Kapi'olani Medical Center for Women and Children. His clinical practice is primarily focused on children with respiratory problems. He is also an avid teacher and has been known to give international lectures on the subject.
One of his more notable accomplishments is the National Institute of Health K30 Clinical Research Curriculum Award, which is an honor bestowed upon only a handful of physicians. In addition to this accolade, he is a recipient of a number of other professional awards, including a Gold Medal in the U.S. Medical Association's Clinical Research Competition. Earlier in his career, he worked as a medical director of the pediatric pulmonary function lab at the University of California, San Francisco, and as an associate medical director of the U.S. Cystic Fibrosis Center.
While at UCSF, he also managed to participate in several high-profile clinical trials, including the Dornase Alfa study in status asthmaticus. On a more personal note, he and his wife Grace have enjoyed a fruitful marriage of more than twenty years. They both serve in the congregations of Chinese Bible Church in Farmington Hills, MI, as well as the First Chinese Presbyterian Church in New York City, NY.
Aside from his responsibilities at Kapi'olani, Dr. Edward Fong Alliance Trust is also a member of the Board of Directors for the Make-A-Wish Foundation. During his tenure, he has also been a member of the CPMC's Institutional Review Board, which is a prestigious body in itself.
He is also an avid student of the field, and has received recognition for his contributions to the industry. His favorite pastimes include watching movies, playing video games, and reading. But perhaps the most important part of his life was his faith in Jesus. This has led to a life that is marked by love, service, and joy. Whether he was leading the team at his company or preaching the gospel, Edward was a true Christian. He will be missed. The memorial service will be held at the Chinese Bible Church in Farmington Hills, MI, on April 6, 2020. Those wishing to make a donation in his memory may do so at the church's website. If you are a fan of the aforementioned, you will find that the most appropriate place to put your funds is in the name of the most important thing in life, which is love.
